My story

It was the winter of 2018 when I found myself seated at the grand party table, commemorating twenty years of the highly successful business that I had contributed to and worked for as a General Manager at that time.

For me, it was a tale spanning two decades, filled with thrilling adventures and challenges in developing and implementing sophisticated, life-safety solutions for businesses and facilities. It was also a time marked by the joy of forming lasting professional relationships that stood the test of time.

As I reflected on these past twenty years, I realised that my journey in this role had reached its conclusion. Whether it was a burnout or a calling, I couldn't say for certain. Was it the arrival of my new-born that prompted me to see the world in a new light? Perhaps.

Was it a deep internal intuition urging me to rediscover my true self? Who can say.
(As for a midlife crisis, I had already made some significant changes in my life a few years prior to that. One of them was upgrading to a faster motorcycle, so I highly doubted that was the cause of my feelings...

One undeniable truth began to crystallise in my mind: the need for a profound shift in my life. Little did I realise then the full scope of change that awaited me. I felt a growing awareness and excitement around the idea that I could serve the world even better and find more meaning in my life by shifting my focus from technological or organisational systems that support the safety and continuity of organisations to supporting individuals - the creators, contributors, and the most valuable asset in any industry.

I have always firmly believed that the true greatness of any endeavour depends on people. Throughout my life of over forty years, filled with ups and downs in my relationships and achievements (both personal and vocational), and during my professional career of over twenty years, I have come to understand that the quality of our decisions and the success or failure in any undertaking largely depend on the state of people's health, spiritual and mental wellbeing.

It is indeed the equanimity of each individual that contribute to their personal resilience and enable them to become better versions of themselves. This, in turn, allows them to not only create more meaningful, happier, or safer organisations, but also build fulfilled families and communities.

After implementing a succession plan, I decided to embark on a journey to follow my true north. I immersed myself in nature and mindfulness practices, taking a break from any office work. I read a lot, listened a lot, and learned a lot, perhaps even more intensely than during my doctoral studies ten years before (...).

I became more centred and able to better understand my body, spirit, and mind. As a result, I also discovered that my state of health was far from what I would consider my desired personal baseline.

While in the meantime, several doctors assured me I was fine and my test results were in 'normal range', their opinions strongly contradicted what I felt daily and experienced following the principles of natural medicine and functional assessments I prescribed myself after having read some amazing books.

After delving into over four years of dedicated experimentation, relentless questioning, and deep self-reflection (that led me ultimately to study naturopathy), I have undergone a profound personal transformation that has greatly impacted the way I present myself to the world today.:

  • I cleared myself of 20k of excessive body mass (to put it nicely) within six months by being more aware, compassionate, and respectful of myself. And yes, by approaching my food as if it was medicine. And yes, I finally stopped yo-yoing because I ... stopped dieting.

  • I humbly learned how to use time-restricted eating and water fasting (for 1/2/3/5/8 days), feeling more energised and never feeling starving, even while cooking for the family and exercising in the gym.

  • I reversed a pre-diabetic state (have you ever heard the term: TOFI?) and neutralised low-grade hereditary autoimmunity (thank you, my ancestors) that was never identified by standard medical tests but surfaced through functional medicine filters (and a mirror).
I still remember how I used to be prescribed numerous series of antibiotics and how I would pop them into my mouth like peanuts every day just to discover that nothing had improved. I remember how I could pop 2-3 ibuprofens every day in Autumn or Winter to relieve my sinusitis and just be able to go to work. Crazy? I don't think so. So many people do it daily!

  • I discovered the miracles of advanced breathing techniques, sound sleep without snoring, and became a Functional Breathing Instructor (thank you, Patrick McKeown and James Nestor).
As a side effect, my sinuses stopped being inflamed all the time and I don't have chronically runny nose and sinusitis anymore...

  • I found a true connection with nature by walking bare-chested and barefoot in the snow and jumping in freezing mountain streams (thank you Wim Hof and Nordic Ninjas).

  • I became an IFM certified Health Coach (FMCHC) and shifted the way I communicate with people
(I wish I had applied this approach before).

  • I became a Naturopathic Practitioner - completed three years of comprehensive study in human physiology and body systems, coupled with hundreds of hours of hands-on clinical training and additional courses.

What began as curiosity transitioned into professional education and ultimately evolved into a true passion. I became captivated by functional medicine, naturopathic principles, and therapeutic approaches to natural healing processes.

This journey has equipped me with confidence to provide evidence-based naturopathic support for various health conditions and make a meaningful difference in the lives of my family, community, and clients.

I know you've spent a lot of time trying to understand my point and why I wrote all this. I really appreciate that.
